The topics of this supreme science episode vary from the offbeat to seriously significant solutions. For instance, Daily Planet visits artist Miina Äkkijyrkkä who recycles old cars by sculpting them into surreal cows that graze in her backyard,  along with the real ones. The camera also follows an occupational health department carrying out a study on rock band Apulanta. The results revealed surprising data on the physical toll a rock concert takes on the musicians. The many observations about the rockers’ working environment in general may fall on deaf ears, as far as rock’n’rollers are concerned…

Inspired technical solutions and advancements are also on offer – the very latest in testing elevators in extreme conditions, an indoor climbing wall that can be customized to a level of difficulty, and a virtual tour of the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. She has only recently arrived to her new home port in Florida after a maiden voyage from Turku, Finland and will be going into service in the Caribbean on December 5th.

Daily Planet is already planning another trip to Finland to discover more cool stuff.

That suits the Finns just fine, as it seems they are coming up with new innovations non-stop...

Join hosts Ziya Tong and Paul Workman for an online viewing of the episode Daily Planet Goes to Finland at the Discovery’s Website.
