kaikella rakkaudella (2013)
(things we do for love)

This is the 32nd film by veteran Finnish film maker, Matti Ijäs, also well known for his well-loved dramas for Finnish TV.
Kaikella rakkaudella is character-driven and also very much landscape-driven – filmed on location in the spring & summer of 2012 in a northern Norwegian fishing port and with breathtaking images of Finnish Lapland.
The photographer Toivo Vaarala, no longer interested in approaching people, photographs an empty bench in the stark landscapes of Lapland.  One night he meets Ansa, and love soon takes possession of the timid man.
Ansa's ex-husband, who has just been released from prison for murder, moves in with the happy couple, and the two men get acquainted.
Kaikella rakkaudella tells about grown-ups and their children.  The stories of the protagonists are crystallizations of happiness and longing - but also of how cruel unrequited love can be.

In Finnish and some Norwegian with English Subtitles
