Pirkko and Albert Karvonen will
introduce and present two of their films:
Strings Across the Sky
(2011)
A documentary about
Andrea Hansen, a child prodigy violinist born in Kenora to Finnish
parents. After a musical entertainment
career, she played in the Montreal and Toronto Symphony Orchestras. She started “Strings Across the Sky” in 1988
to bring fiddle music to Canadian Inuit youth and continues to make annual
teaching tours to the Arctic.
Bears, Bears, Bears
(2002)
Made
for the Discovering Wildness series on Discovery Channel TV, Bears, Bears,
Bears has also been shown on Knowledge Network and in many countries
world-wide. The film explores the
grizzly, black and polar bear to find out how each has become the most dominant
animal in their own natural community.
Both films are
suitable for children.
