CANADIAN FRIENDS OF FINLAND
Sunday Afternoon Films

Pirkko and Albert Karvonen will introduce and present two of their films:

Strings Across the Sky
(2011)

A documentary about Andrea Hansen, a child prodigy violinist born in Kenora to Finnish parents.  After a musical entertainment career, she played in the Montreal and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.  She started “Strings Across the Sky” in 1988 to bring fiddle music to Canadian Inuit youth and continues to make annual teaching tours to the Arctic.

Bears, Bears, Bears
(2002)

Made for the Discovering Wildness series on Discovery Channel TV, Bears, Bears, Bears has also been shown on Knowledge Network and in many countries world-wide.  The film explores the grizzly, black and polar bear to find out how each has become the most dominant animal in their own natural community.

Both films are suitable for children.
