Ulf (Uffe) Fagerlund - 1925 - 2013
It is with
great sadness that we announce the passing of Ulf Fagerlund on September 17,
2013.
Born in
Loviisa, Finland, March 16, 1925, Uffe immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his
wife Anita, the same year he had earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from
Åbo Academy. He worked at the Fisheries Research Board of Canada from 1952
until 1987. Over the years, he and Anita also created a home in North Vancouver
and raised 5 children together.
Dedication
to his heritage and love of music kept him active in the Canadian Friends of
Finland and the Runeberg Chorus during retirement. Uffe was an early board member of the CFF and
the membership secretary since 1993. He was well loved by CFF members and will
be greatly missed.
