The Runeberg Study Group continues meeting in 2010

If you are interested in poetry you might want to join the dozen or so go who get together at the Scandinavian Centre 5 times a year - the next meeting is on March 31st.

The study group normally meets for about 2 hours and enjoy coffee and goodies as they talk about Finland's epic poet Runeberg.

If someone is interested they should come and attend a session.  There is no cost involved but feel free to bring some goodies.

Five Wednesdays are scheduled at 2 pm in the Finnish Room: March 31, April 28, May 26, September 29 and October 27. This season we will focus on Runeberg, the epic poet, plus Runeberg's life. Everyone is welcome. For more details contact Dianne Kilback at 604 294 3715, dkilback [ @ ] telus.net

Canadian Friends of Finland and Runeberg Lodge 124 invite you to join the Runeberg Study Group in an informal English language, small group discussion  about some of the poetry & other works of Johan Ludvig Runeberg, Finland’s National Poet.

The national poet of Finland wrote in Swedish and exercised a great influence on Swedish literature. Runeberg's poetry has been compared to that of the great European romantics, such as Hugo, Shelley, Keats, Lermontov and Petöfi. Come celebrate Finland's National Poet Feb 1, 2009 2-4 PM

Runeberg Celebration

We are commemorating the birthday of Finland's national poet with emphasis on Runebergas a chronicler, in the Tales of Ensign Stål, of the war of 1808-09 between Sweden and, which 200 years ago resulted in Finland gaining statehood.
